Advanced Knee Treatment
Knee osteoarthritis is a painful condition that occurs when cartilage in the knee becomes inflamed. Healthy cartilage is sturdy but flexible and absorbs shocks, allowing the leg bones to slide over each other smoothly. But with osteoarthritis, the cartilage in the knee can eventually wear down to the point where bone grates on bone—a painful condition that results in swelling, decreased and limited mobility, and sometimes the formation of bone spurs.
Our non-invasive knee treatment at Pain and Wellness Group is an effective alternative to knee replacement surgery for those with conditions like knee osteoarthritis. With a combination of knee bracing, rehabilitation, and HYALGAN® ultrasound-guided injections, we will do everything we can to get you back to your active lifestyle while avoiding invasive and expensive surgery.
We are proud to offer HYALGAN® injections to our patients. These injections give you long-lasting pain relief for up to six months, can be safely used for up to 30 months, and are a safe and proven alternative to knee replacement surgery.
HYALGAN® is not a drug and its principal component is a naturally derived substance called hyaluronan. Hyaluronan is a chemical in the body that is present in a concentrated amount in joint tissues and in the fluid that fills the joint. HYALGAN® is injected directly into the knee and relieves pain by lubricating and cushioning the knee joint. Because HYALGAN® is injected directly into the knee, it does not cause stomach bleeding problems like some oral pain medications.
Three Phases to Younger Knees
1. RELIEF FROM PAIN
Our specially trained physicians work with you to reduce pain and improve function and mobility of the knee joint. We are also happy to work with you if you are just looking for more preventative measures or even if you have been told you need a knee replacement.
After reducing pain and improving function of the joint, we will start a specialized stretching program to restore motion in the joint and prevent stiffness. When you have decreased motion in a joint, it will not function properly and continue to break down over time.
After reducing pain, improving function, and restoring motion in the joint, we will begin the strengthening phase of our advanced knee treatment. This process will not only improve joint strength, but it will also retrain your muscles to help with walking, standing, going up and down stairs, etc.
We want long-lasting pain relief and increased mobility for all of our patients. We have developed our advanced knee treatment program to give you non-invasive options for restoring your quality of life and independence from pain medications and surgeries. Please contact us today to schedule a consultation at one of our offices and begin your road to recovery and wellness.
